Has anyone received one yet? How much easier is it to process?

We are still using our birth cert and ID but wanted to get the card instead of the book.

Thanks, Karrie

The last I heard the processing time is about the same as the regular passport--4-6 weeks.

Just keep in mind that the card is not a substitute for the regular passport; the card is only good for land and sea travel between the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. So if you plan to do any air travel you might just as well go ahead and get the regular passport now.

This is very good advice from f-mattox.

The card will not substitute for a Passport should you have an emergency and need to fly.

Here is a link.

So if you have a passport do you need this card wouldn't that be redundant?

If you have a passport, you don't need a passport card. The card, which is less expensive than getting a passport, is chosen by some folks who do not intend to fly outside of the US, since you can't use the passport card when flying. Click on the link in IslandCruz's message above for more information.
