We enjoy formal night. I bought a tux with two different vests and bow ties. My wife and I go shopping all the time for new exciting gowns for her to wear. We have four boys and don't get the opportunity to dress up very often.

But is doesn't bother us if someone else is wearing blue jeans and a tux-tee. Hey it is their cruise too. Let them wear what they are comfortable in.

We participate in everything we can. We took a Halloween cruise and my wife made our costumes. I even wore a rasta wig and hat for caribbean night.

Do what you want you paid for it. I will keep wearing the tux and my wife in those beautiful sexy gowns.

thx

Hello,

I happen to like formal nights because it adds to and is a part of the mystique of cruising. We always have second seating and I am usually on the boat deck in a chair reading about 5:30 PM on sea days. And it never fails to please me to see couples coming out for a look at the sea all dressed up for formal night. It is especially touching to see men and women many of whom look like they didn't spend their working lives in suits and ties or dresses, all dressed up for formal night. And there have been some unforgettable smiles. The men seem to say...she got me to go on a cruise and get dressed up and doesn't my gal look great! And her look says sure I won but doesn't he look wonderful?

Hi
Love the poll!
Being from Sctland I always pack my kilt and full Scottish outfit. It's a good head turner.
The only downside to the kilt outfit, it's really heavy and eats into my allowance.
I love the formal nights, nothing better after relaxing by the pool all day than getting dressed up for dinner.

Marita,

yes, I will add the poll to the German forum. I have disabled polls for the German forum because users used to mix up "discussions" and "polls", creating a large number of polls when they actually wanted to simply open new threads. If anybody wants to have a poll created, the moderators will gladly do so, of course.

I'm surprised to see I'm not the only one who voted against attending the formal nights. Not that I have any issue with them, and certainly can see why most seem to love them.

Whoever picked, I avoid the dining room on formal nights come join us on the Crown in September, we need some company, lol.

We love the formal nights. My husband purchased a tux from a formal shop about 3 years ago, just the pants and jacket. Total cost was actually less than buying a suit. We always go back to the same store and rent his shirt, vest, cumberbundt ties etc..for each cruise. Usually we do this after I decide what I am wearing then we match him to my outfit. We get agreat deal on the rentals usually around $25.00 for 2 shirts, and accessories for each shirt, and that is for the entire week, plus a couple of days to return it. At first he didnt like dressing up, and I have even told him if he would prefer to wear a suit that was fine with me, but he says NO I like dressing in my tux.

I always rent a tux from the cruise line. This saves me from packing a suit and a couple of dress shirts. I travel lighter and the rented tux never shows the impacts of packing and shipping.
