Here's on for a laugh- The local Sunday paper her in SE Florida had a cruise advertized to Bermuda leaving from Charleston. It was a nine day trip with one night in Georgia, free bus included on NCL spending 3 days in Bermuda for only $398 p/p. I realized there would be some extra charges like port charges & taxes but after checking their web site the additional charges amounted to an additional $498 p/p for a total of $896- and an inside cabin at that.

It's a legit TA located in Fort Myers, Fl but with deceptive advertising like that I wouldn't do business with them at any price.

Unfortunately there are several companies that send these type on "come on" ads. There basically advertise a stripped cruise fare. Most legitimate agencies advertise pricing that includes port-charges (the only biggie add'l cost). With all agencies including the cruiselines you still have to add things like taxes and gratuities but these aren't things that equal as much as the cruisefare.

I agree with Neil. The port taxes should have been included in the advertised price by any reputable company. The Government Fees can be excluded. The Gratuities on most cruise lines are up to personal choice and not part of the cruise price with advertising.
I would not do business with any company that participates in deceptive advertising, regardless if it is a cruise or an oil change. Dwayne |
