Book a guarantee? Upgrade stories.

Daddyx2, now that is an awesome upgrade. I wouldnt mind that for sure. May have to try that although we want to book at least a window room. Loved seeing the waves the ship caused at night. It was peaceful and relaxing.

We recently cruised on Island Princess and some family members that booked a guarantee catagory (mini-suite) got upgraded to an owner's suite, and they booked only 5 weeks prior to the sailing date. Their cabin was almost twice the size of ours, and they got complementary laundry service and plenty of other extras.

So what do y'all think my chances of getting an upgrade are?
I've book the VH guarantee with HAL and am hoping (with fingers crossed) that I will be given on upgrade or at least a chance for a buy up before my cruise.

I've been on six cruises and always booked guaranty inside. Best upgrade was from deck four inside to deck 11 balcony. Twice have been moved to oceanview, once parttially obstructed. The other three times we've gotten the highest category inside cabins. Never had a problem with the position with respect to noise or traffic, even the time we booked only 10 days ahead and the ship was full.
