If i have to leave the cruise during the actually days that I am gone...what happens? BROAD QUESTION I know...but anyone have any experiences or insight....

My Mother-in-law fell and broke her hip a week before our cruise last April. We had to cancel our cruise because my wife has the Power of Attorney and had to arrange her mother's care. We lost $100 per airline ticket but we were reinbursted for the cruise. Our insurance was through Royal Caribbean. It took about 60 days until the insurance company sent the money. If we would have used our CITI Advantage card to pay for the airline tickets, we would have recovered all our money for them also. I didn't know that credit card had trip interruption coverage. Hope this helps...

Third party insurance such as Travel Guard usually provides better coverage. IE: RCI's emergency medical transportation allows up to $25,000, where Travel Guard is $500,000. RCI's trip delay is $500 and Travel Guard is $750. They also would cover any fees on air tickets. RCI refunds in cash but some cruise lines will refund part in future cruise credit. Therefore the third party insurance would also be better.
