Passports where are we...lol??

Hi, Do we need a passport for January 2009?
I did check the website and it said June 2009
they would be required? We are going to Haiti, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico setting in sail Fl.

Your answered your own question. Current implementation for the WHTI is June 1, 2009, for sea travel.

Get yourself a passport and be safe and not have to worry about it for the next 10 years.

Spiritfilled has an excellent suggestion. It's not so much that it's required for sea, but is required for air. If you had to fly home from Haiti or St. Maarten, you'd be in a pickle without one.

You don't need a passport if you're cruising out of the country just when flying? I din't know that. I thought you needed it for cruising too. There are so many rules I can't keep up. I'm glad I found this chat line because I am finding out so much. The crusing experience you all have is so helpful.
Do you know of a travel agency that has good prices?

Well, the passport requirements change daily it seems. They were suppose to start requiring them in January of this year for sea travel, then it went to June, then it slipped to next January, now it's next June. We got ours renewed 2 years ago, so we're good to go for a while. I did have a great travel agent in Colorado, but she since retired. Just make sure you get one that is a cruise specialist and is CLIA certified. If they don't ask you about your preferences, seek another one. They should be able to match you to a ship and make your cruise the best.

Nat- There is no better time than the present to apply for your passport. As time gets closer and closer to the deadline for cruisers the wait will become longer and longer. By applying soon you will beat the rush and be able to make your future cruise plans without a hitch!
