7 day from san juan Feb2008

Thinking about booking a 7 day from San Juan,Southern Carabean Feb2008,anyone been there done that? Any advice,sugestions...(donations....

The Southern Caribbean has some nice ports. The biggest con for many people is the added air expense to fly to San Juan. I would compare the cruise lines air (keeping in mind transfer is included) with getting air on your own and paying for taxi. Coming from Montreal I would consider definitely flying in a day early.

We can get return air from Burrlington Vermont for $300.00.That part works out ok.Have you ever sailed from san juan? We have already been
to Tortolla (realy enjoyed it) but what about
St. Kitts , St. Lucia , Barbados , Margarita Island,Curacao

It's been several years since I've sailed from San Juan. I will be going again late this year. I have been to Aruba, and Barbados. St Kitts and St Lucia are actually newer ports for the large ships to be going in to. St Lucia is a beautiful lush island with the famous twin Piton mountains. Aruba is a dry island. They have the Divi Divi tree there that bends in a Westward direction which is the direction of the winds. Eagle and Palm beach are two of the nice beach areas. See here . They have some casinos in Aruba. There are some water caves in Aruba and the Natural Coral bridge. You might want to check out this site

Thanks for the info! Please let me know how your cruise goes later this year,perhaps you could recomend a hotel close to the port for 1 nite before and after our cruise? As always this is the best site! Happy Easter to all..

Hi Bruce: We booked a cruse with Carnival going out of San Juan because by flying there you get more ports to visit and less sea days, but then they changed the itinerary from St Lucia, and Antigua to St Kitts and La Romania with no sea day beginning January 8, 2007. So if your going with Carnival look at the new itinerary, not the one they are using now. Another thing I learned in research that by going out of a non US port they will have less English speaking people on board. This cruise they say everything in English and then repeat in Spanish cause 75% of passengers are. Beings we are flying we want to rest up after a long flight so we are going to go in a couple days early to enjoy the San Juan port as we don't leave until 10:00 pm. We are booking a room with the Milano Hotel in Old San Juan for the better price, and it is close to the port. Carnival leaves from pier #4.

Southern Caribbean out of San Juan is my FAVORITE itinerary! More islands, and in my opinion, more exotic. I have cruised these routes with Carnival and Princess, and loved it both times. Between the two lines, I have been on most of the islands and now know which ones I would like to actually spend time on, if I would want to. It's a whole separate world! You will love it! The last one we did was in September of 2004, the only week there wasn't a hurricane! It was beautiful! When we ported in San Juan, we stayed over a couple of nights and it was the first day the hotel we stayed at (sorry, can't remember the name... in the middle of a strip of hotels on the beach) was re-opened after the hurricane and everyone was THRILLED to have visitors back! Free drinks and treated like royalty. Go for it! You won't regret it!

I looked it up... the Intercontinental San Juan Resort and Casino. Beautiful!
