I will be purchasing my own airline tickets. When is the best time to purchase them? We are cruising Nov 2007. I think that maybe 9-12 months is way too far in advance. Also, do you think I could make it back to the airport in enough time to catch a 1pm flight? The ship gets back at 7am. Any flight I take after 1pm will get me back to VA the following day (from CA) and I want to get back home the same day we disembark.

Airline tickets are like the gas prices, up down up down. Right now the rates are out for dates up to around Oct 30th next year. When the airlines release fares, cheaper tickets will be available. As time goes on and the plane is filling up the fares will get higher. Yes, they may throw a sale in sometime between when you purchase tickets and fly. But if you don't catch the sale then you risk higher fares by waiting.

CF is right. We booked our airfare as soon as we booked the cruise. You may be able to get cheaper fares if you wait, but you also may risk not getting on the flight that has a schedule to gets you to the ship at teh early time. Those fill up fast.

As for getting to a 1PM flight, you SHOULD be able to make that. Even if you just go with the flow and get off when they call your tag color, you should be off by 10Am or 10:30am... If you ask for early disembark, you can be off by 8 or 9.

Thanks for the info. Jim C., is it that easy to just go and ask for early disembark? Do I have to show my airline tickets as proof of the time of my flight departure? Does this mean we will be with the first group off the ship?
