Spirit Air is even worse. They charge $10 for the FIRST bag and $100 for the second. You can get the first bag for $5 if you read the small print and pay for it online before the flight.

It's no wonder that everyone carries on everything they can.

We were on an AirTran flight out of Ft. Lauderdale and had to sit on the tarmac for about an hour while they were recalculating their weight and balance. They had to use a shorter runway for take-off and all the extra luggage that had to be stowed had to be calculated. People were trying to carry-on huge suit cases, which they took at the door. The few people who do follow the rules are out numbered by those that don't. Everyone thinks rules are made for the other person and not them. Those people are the ones that make everyone else suffer the consequences. I'm sure all airlines will follow United's lead because the luggage situation is out of hand on all air lines due to people not abiding by the rules.

I saw this on the announcement about United on the news last night. The other airlines are going to wait and see what it does to United.

I hope the others don't follow suit..but I agree with all of you that the carry on luggage policies need to be enforced!
