Honeymoon Cruise: Need Advice

I just got married

I am wanting to take my Wife on a cruise via-Carnival next spring and I am not sure where to go. I have been on one cruise before on the Elation.

We have a budget of about $4000 to work with and we live in Phoenix AZ. I was thinking about going on the Carnival Pride to the Mexican Riviera because we could drive to the port VIA Los Angeles and save money on a plane ticket.

Can you guys give me any advice to what I should do? Or what would be the most romantic and beautiful. I don’t make alot of money, so this is more of a one-time-chance thing. I want it to be perfect; I just want to do the right thing. We are a young couple (22 and 20 y/old) if that helps at all.

PS. She hates the cold, so an Alaskan cruise is out of the question. She loves Dolphins and a cruise with a Dolphin swim would be good. Also I have asthma so that might help choose one with less physical activities and more "fun" or "beautiful" things to do at port.

My wife and I did the Western Caribbean on the Triumph for our Honeymoon and we absolutely loved it. Trust me even though you don't make alot of money if you do this one, it won't be your last. We live in Vegas and are going on another Western cruise in December even though it will hurt the pocket book a bit. Good luck and congradulations.

First of all let me say that if you and your wife are together you will have a wonderful time. It is what you make of it. That's a good thing (as Martha would say). Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas is a wonderful cruise ship. It is out of L.A. but I am not sure if it does Mexico in the Spring. In the summer it is in Alaska. We took this cruise a year and a half ago. I shopped around and got the best deal I could on an Oceanview cabin. Spent about $1,200. We spent $800.00 on the ship. This was gambling, pictures, CDs, DVDs, art, souveneirs and drinks. You can cut this amount down to nothing if you really want to. We did not do any shore excursions, just shopped the stores and had lunch. Probably spent another $200.00 Parking was $70.00 for the week. So total we spent about $2,270.00. For $4,000 you can have a grand time. Make sure you arrive the day before. You do not want to stress about car trouble or delays and not make the ship. Also I believe there is a Holiday Inn in the area that was like $150.00 for the night and you got to park there for free for the week. Though you could drive you do have the cost of gas, lunch and parking. Southwest offers specials from Az to LA for $39.00 each way. It may actually be cheaper to fly than to drive and less stressful. The food was very good and the entertainment was superb! You will not soon forget your wonderful cruise. Have a wonderful time on whatever cruise you choose.
