gulf seas vs atlantic seas

still trying to decide between a 5 day cruise out of tampa to coz and caymen VS a 5 day out of Jacksonville going to bahamas. Looking at October, in general, I know it all depends on storms, etc,, but in general that time of year would the seas be calmer in the gulf or the atlantic. There is also the option of a 4 night from port canaveral, but that is still the atlantic. THANKS

In general the either location could be rough IF there were an approaching storm but the cruise ships do anything in their capability to avoid them. My guess is that a cruise leaving from Jacksonville might have better options if there were a problem brewing but again on a 5 day cruise there really aren't to many.

I've hit some really rough seas in both the Atlantic and the Gulf. With the stabilizers on the newer ships and the size of most of them, it does help with the motion. Pick the itinerary that pleases you the most. We've sailed a lot in October and have had some really smooth cruises. Best wishes!
