All of you pray for the safe return of the passengers of the small cruise ship MV Explorer which is sinking in Antarctic waters. Rescue missions are proving successful. This is a link to the article. MV Explorer

And it's the Norwegian ship "Nordnorge" that picked up all of the 154 souls onboard http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

The latest photo I saw doesn't look good. The Explorer was heeled over

The news stories are strange. All reporting a fist sized hole in the hull. That should not result in a modern ship sinking. There is something in the reports that just doesn't add up. Just glad their are no injuries or deaths. People must have paid attention during the muster drill for a change, lol.

Cheers, Neil

Seems like it would have to have taken on alot of water to make it list like that. I am glad everyone got off safely too. Hopefully they can keep it from sinking.

I read today that the ship had several citations , one was for a watertight door that didn't work. So it is possible they were either underplaying it for the media or it took on a lot more water thaan it should have.

I think it is a tad ironic though that the passengers were obviously environmentally aware- since that was the whole point of the trip.. and they instead ended up being on a ship responsible for a 180m oil slick.
At least everyone is ok.

It looked like a nice little ship. What a shame.

I had to speculate but I agree with Shelby that the passengers are probably into eco-friendly vacations, and now the ship they were on has hosed the local vicinity down with fuel oil, etc. Oops! http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...n_rolleyes.gif
