I see that the captain has a party. How do you get invited to it? What night is it usually on? We will be having parties and don't want to interfere with it or miss out.

The Captain's Party is usually on the first formal night. depending on what cruise line you are saiing, it consists of a mere pre-show toast and introduction of the staff by the captain to a 30-45 min. cocktail hour.

That is it? They call this a party? How boring.

When we went on Carnvial cruise line the alcohol at the captian's cocktail party was free http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo.../icon_cool.gif and that is a good reason not to miss it. However, order the drinks that are straight alcohol to get the full effect! party on dude http://images7.fotki.com/v157/photos...xthumbs-vi.gif

7th Son,

Everyone gets invited to the Captain's Welcome Aboard Cocktail Party, which as others have noted is on the first formal night. The ship's orchestra will be playing dance music, waiters will be circulating with trays of assorted drinks and canapes. Just like any cocktail party really - as in being boring too. The Captain or some other senior officer will greet each guest at the door and you can have your photo taken - which you can purchase later. After a while the Cruise Director will take the stage and introduce the Captain. The Captain will then introduce his department heads (Staff Captain, Chief Engineer, Doctor, etc.) and make some brief comments. The band then plays a little more while some guests dance and then you leave.

As you may tell, I am not a big fan of these. However, I usually go to the past passenger party that happens later in the cruise. These are usually better and they typically have prize drawings.

Hi Dave56, Does the past passenger party include free drinks? Preferably ones with alcohol. I will be on the Miracle next week and never attended the past passenger parties. I was wondering if there is a tour of the engine room? I missed the one on the Pride and Glory. Thanks.

The past passenger parties have the drinks and snacks like the welcome aboard party. I have not seen tours of the engineering spaces offered lately. I thought they had stopped them for security and safety reasons.

I was really looking forward to the tour of the galley on the Triumph this time as I had missed the one on the Inspiraton in 2000, but it was not offered, wonder if it is for sanitation reasons or what?
