Help me choose where to cruise!

Hi everyone!

I am looking for ideas of places to cruise in January.

Background: Just hubby and I. This will be our 4th cruise. We've been on Carnival for both Eastern and Western Carribbean, and Holland America for Alaska.

We are looking to book our 4th cruise for this coming January, and would like some ideas on lines and locations. We are on a budget, so please don't suggest the Queen Mary! LOL!

We did like Carnival better than Holland America (I'll be 31 and hubby is 39).

We did not like Jamaica, and Alaska reminded us too much of home (we're from Maine). Loved Grand Caymen and St. Thomas...

Hopefully with this information, some of you can give me ideas!!

I would suggest you try a Royal Caribbean ship. It falls somewhere between the Carnival and Holland America experience. If you liked St. Thomas and Grand Cayman - try a southern Caribbean cruise out of San Juan.

Yeah, Our travel agent recently suggested Southern Carribean for me and husband too when it was just us sailing.

I recommend the southern caribbean. We just returned from a cruise on the Golden Princess in the S. Caribbean and it was fantastic. We liked it so much I booked a second southern caribbean cruise, different ports of call, for Dec.

I have considered Royal Caribbean as well as NCL - I think I'm going to save NCL for next summer as I want to go to Bermuda out of Boston and I only have the choice of NCL or Carnival (I want to eventually have cruised on all of the big lines).

The only problem with San Juan is the airfare to get there - I'm in Maine and it costs tons to get anywhere - I usually drive to Boston and fly out of there...I'll have to see about that...

Please keep the ideas coming!!

JetBlue has service out of Boston and New York for $99 or less each way. I flew from San Jaun to New Orleans for $178 recently.

You will find the Queen Mary has some deep discounted rates during the beginning of the year, as do most cruise lines. Plus, they will fly you back to Boston.

Last year I cruised the week after Thanksgiving on the Star Princess. Got an awesome deal for the cruise (even as a single). My TA told me this is a good week to travel at discounted rates. I did get my own air for a better price than Princess Air. Good Luck
