Hello all,

I’m 22, from the US, and am interested in applying for a youth staff position on a cruise ship.
If anyone could give me information on the application process, I would really appreciate it.
My current commitment runs through Dec 16, so I could not start working before that point, how long in advance should I apply?
For this kind of position is it better to apply directly to the cruise line (whether they list it an a job opening or not?) or would an agency be recommended?
My first preference would be Holland America or Carnival simply because I am more familiar with those lines than other lines…but I would be happy to be a part of any cruise lines’ staff.
I recently graduated with a BS in Human Development and have 7 years experience working at a day camp with children ages 2-11.

Any information or warnings from personal experience is welcomed.

Thank you,
Jennifer

Go to whichever cruiseline's website you want to apply. Under employment most of them have it broke down with Corporate jobs, and shipboard jobs. You should be able to find what your looking for under the shipboard jobs.

One more question that I have not found any information on yet..

Does anyone know how far in advance it is recommended to apply?
I am taking some post undergrad classes until mid December, but I would hope to start working soon after that.

Thanks!!

I would apply now. The cruise lines work on contracts of usually 6-8 months. So they are continuously hiring.

I would try Norwegian, they advertise in the local paper because they have to document for employment for US for the Hawaii ships.

Not many Americans or even Brits on the ships, unless Cruise director or a Brit being a Cashier in the store.
