I'm from very southg Louisiana, so I don't qualify, bu have friends I met on a cruise on the Mercury last Thanksgiving. Here is an excerpt I got from them today.

VP checking in here with our future travel plans. We are booked on the Summit 2/28 (11 night) followed by RCCL Radiance on 3/13 for 7 nights. Just tried to get something back to back to extend our stay for most of March. Not usually a good month in MN. Would be great if you could join us on either of those.

Is it that cold there? It got down to TWENTY NINE a few weeks ago.

Dave,
Did you mean Mich or Minn.Yes it does get pretty cold here.In the negative digits before the wind chill factor.Come on up sometime and try your best at skiing,or we could cut a hole in the ice and go boating.Didn't you experience any cold weather when you were in the Navy.My oldest brother went to the North Pole while he was in Navy a couple of years ago.His pictures of this are on his website. If you want i will e-mail that web site. Why do you think that us Michiganders book cruises in the winter. We get a little tired of the cold weather and just need a little bit of the Carribbean sunshine.

For all you Michigan residents: I just got off the Splendour of the Seas (sails out of Tampa) and over 60% of the ship was from Michigan. As a fellow midwesterner I know how important it is to get out of the cold about now, but we figured based on the number of Michiganites (or is it Michiganers or Michiganians??)on our ship that 1/2 the state was on vacation last week.

Many of the school districts in the State were off for winter break last week

Thanks for that information - now it makes sense. We just couldn't believe that there was such a high percentage of passegers from Michigan on our cruise.
