What are the ups and downs of it? Why try to book the aft? If you did book it and was beside the suite what are they ups and downs of that does it limit your view? Thanks

In general the aft cabins are very much sought after because they usually have larger balconies (and I don't mean just the suites) and the views are spectacular, especially if you are on a corner. The suites have no effect on the view of the standard cabins. And on some ships, notably Princess Grand Class ships, the aft balconies are covered.

On the downside, some ships have a lot of metalwork on the aft which can partially obstruct the view; others have various kinds of equipment aft which can block part of the view. You really need a deckplan and photographs to know which decks to avoid.

Another thing to consider: when at sea the churn or wake of the ship makes a constant whooshing sound. Some of us love that sound--but not everybody does.

Hope this helps.

Dalton,
I'm with F-Mattox on my up coming cruise in Feb I booked an aft almost 2 years ago because they are fast to go and there not that many, if you think about it. I booked an aft on Celebrity's Consellation and the Balcony was big enough to hold 4 lounge chairs and a reg size patio table and chairs ! Check out the Deck plan like F-Mattox mentions they do all vary, Happy Sailing
