just wondered if anyone has had any experiences due to idiots whilst on a cruise.Bearing in mind that it was only the third sailing of the brand new emerald princess, I was shocked when exploring the ship during the first day on board and looked into a laundry room where the washing machines and ironing boards are and saw that three out of the four ironing boards had burn marks on the covers some all the way through in 2 places on the ironing board ...and then looking in a couple of laundry rooms on other floors ...saw the same thing had happened as well.

The irons have a timer on them so not too much damage can be done but blimey there must be some really stupid people onboard to leave irons face down on an ironing board..would they do this at home ...I don't know...but on a brand new ship !!..ironing board covers are not that expensive to replace ( and princess did replace them during the cruise ) but all costs add up.

Just wondered if anyone else had any experiences of idiots whilst on board but don't mention drunks...thats too easy.
ps apart from that had a fantastic cruise on the emerald princess.

Jack, I don't know what to say. Obviously too many of us have been ignoring the laundry rooms. I now wonder about the extent of this tomfoolery! How many ironing board covers have been defaced by these nitwits? And what of their curling irons and hair dryers?

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I shall endeavor to spend more time policing the laundry rooms of cruise ships on future journeys. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo.../icon_razz.gif

thank you so much for your kind offer of free policing of the laundry rooms ....maybe other forum members would also like to take part and where there are more than two members on the same ship a flexible rota could be made ? http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif

Humms? Let's see policing of the laundry rooms vs. lido time? Sorry, I will have to be drafted for that one. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo.../icon_razz.gif

Wait a minute, Royal Caribbean's ships don't have a laundry for passenger use, do they? Maybe they're trying to make the ships idiot proof. Nah, they will never get rid of the bars.

From my experience, only some Carnival and Princess ships have self-serve laundries. I don't go on cruises to do laundry, so I really wouldn't know the specifics for all lines.

I know one thing - I will never book a Carnival cruise where my cabin is right across from the laundry again. On the Legend we were in this situation. I don't wish to sound snobbish, but some passengers showed up there (they apparently were cruising together) and spent the day and evening there! The women were doing everyone's laundry from the group - including ironing, the men had pulled chairs from other areas of the ship and were sitting in the passageway. They would take turns going to a bar to bring back beer. This started at mid-afternoon and they were still there at 8pm. Very strange. I think enough complaints were made and some officer finally broke it up.

I think it is a good thing that RCI has no "launder-coin" operations!

I'll never do laundry on a cruise. There are some things you just shouldn't have to think about or do on vacation. Loose the cell phone, do the laundry when you get home, or better yet let the cleaners do it. Enjoy your time on the ship.

Cheers, Neil
