cruisecompete.com? They have given me some pretty decent quotes for a future cruise but I'm a little uneasy about using them. (You know that saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't") By the way hello to everyone, I'm glad to have found you!

tevagirl and Sharpy,
Were glad you found us also. Welcome to the community!

tevagirl - don't know anything about cruisecompete.com, but when dealing with the Internet, it is best to heed your own advice regarding deals too good to be true. Also, unless you are a seasoned cruiser that knows exactly what ship, itinerary, etc. that you want to book, the biggest favor you can do yourself is to locate a travel agent who is a cruise expert. Local agents can often get you the same deal you see on the Internet, and supply the service that may be otherwise lacking.

Nancy

I don't know this site either. They might be great but you'd be gambling a heck of a lot of money.

Sometimes the internet rates look wonderful but they don't include port charges or government taxes or whatever. The whatever might end up costing $150 bucks.

One internet site I've used several times is cruise.com. The rate they quote you is the final rate. Plus they always have humans on the other end of the phone who will help you if you mess up or have questions.

It's been a while since I started going through them, but if I remember correctly, they told me what city they were in and I called the Better Business Bureau and checked them out.

Hi I've booked 2 cruises using cruise compete. the first, the best price was from a discounter (cruise value center) no problems at all. The second we asked for a quote on an outside room, one agent gave me a quote for a balcony room, 4 bottles of wine, a photo credit and dinner at the specialty resturant all for 750$ each, at least 300$ cheaper than I could find ANY balcony rooms, I too was a bit skeptical, I checked the BBB and did all the checking you would do for any agent, talked extensively with the TA (lori at skyscraper tours) she knew her stuff, she had bought these cabins REALLY early and had kept them. So we are going on an awesome trip with a balcony room(our first)

I forgot to mention that price included port charges and fees. Everything has been paid for and booked correctly to Holland America. I've had good luck with cruise compete.
