My husband and I will be on the Rhapsody of the Seas with Royal Caribbean International cruises in November sailing from Sydney to the South Pacific Islands. This will be our fist cruise and is to celebrate our anniversary but have so many questions.

1. The website indicates that this cruise includes most meals. What can we expect for meals? What meals will we need to purchase on our own.

2. Will we need to pay for entertainment or is this included with the cruse?

3. We will have 5 out of the 11 days docked in Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Do we need to book excursions before we depart or can we book it from the ship? Will be allowed to stay on the ship during this time as well.

4. We have also elected to purchase a 'guarantee cabin' as this was the only rooms available ..besides the suites that were fairly expensive. What can we expect with this reservation. I know that this will be just a standard cabin room but wondering if anyone know how standard the room is?

I'm sure these questions are a bit basic but since this is our fist cruise we just want to know what to expect..any advise is welcomed..
cheers

Other than meals at the "specialty restaurants" all you meals are included in the price. We never go to the specialty restaurants & still enjoy ourselves but it does seem to be popular thing to do.

ALL you entertainment is included unless you want extras like the golf simulator.

If there's a tour that's popular & you have you heart set on it I would book it as early as possible since certain ones fill up & by the time you get on the ship they'll be gone. You can always book tours on your own. Do a little research on the Internet & you'll get peoples opinions on which operators are decent.
No one forces you to get off the ship but since your visiting ports you've never seen before I would want to get out & see things. Many times we stay aboard if we want to relax- The ship will almost be empty & you'll have it to yourself.

The guarantee is a way to get an upgrade if you want to gamble & aren't particular about the location or deck. You can sometimes do OK & even get upgraded to an outside cabin, balcony or suite if the ship isn't full- You certainly won't do any worse than the cat you booked for.

I'm sure these questions are a bit basic but since this is our fist cruise we just want to know what to expect..any advise is welcomed..

Welcome to cruise-chat. You've come to the right place for answers to your questions.

For the Rhapsody, all your meals are included since there is no "upscale" extra-fee restaurant on this ship. Other ships have specialty restaurants that cost extra, and that is what they are referring to. This is boilerplate language.

Entertainment is included. However if you want to play bingo or use the casino then you have to pay for it.

Booking early ensures you get the tours you want, but you can book on the ship. You stay aboard the ship for the whole cruise, even in port.

Guaranteed cabin means you will get a cabin that is no less than the guaranteed category you selected. Thus, if you booked in inside cabin guarantee you will at least get that, but it is possible you could see a higher category cabin such as a standard outside cabin. The standard cabins are around 140 to 150 square feet including the bathroom and closets. There will be a shower and no tub. Two beds that can be combined to make a queen-size if you choose. A TV set, hair dryer, and a chair are also in the cabins. A small refrigerator too. They are comfortable if a bit small, but you don't spend much time in the cabin anyway.
