I was just writing the same thread with the same linke to cnn.

I´ve heard it on the radio while driving my car and they reported, that european and american passengers are on bord.
I know, that pirates attacked other ships and have captured a ship with humanitary freight several weeks ago. But Somalia is one of the poorest third world countries and human rights are unknown at this part of the world.

What kind of itinerary goes off the coast of Somalia and has anyone cruised there?

No, sadly I've not yet been able to get that kind of time off from work, but what a great voyage! That was a trip through the Suez canal wasn't it? and then all along the coast of Africa to the southern end, to Mombasa. The next two legs were to have gone to Singapore and then to Hong Kong.

I think they may be stopping in the Seychelles and then going on as planned? Perhaps they are skipping southern Africa and going on to Singapore?

I would do it all in a heartbeat if I could. I wouldn't avoid the area.

I think the pirates were stupid to attack a cruise ship instead of the usual freighter or tanker. Even this little baby of a cruise ship has over 100 crew members. Duh!
