I would like to get some input on the trimuph.we are considering it for our next cruise.Is it clean? Is the food of good quality? Is the buffet area open during dinner hours?how is the entertainment? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

We were on the Triumph in May of 2003. We had a great time. Maybe it was because we took a suite guarantee and ended up with a penthouse suite. The ship seemed to be very smooth. There was very little rocking or vibration. The food quality was typical cruise ship. I am not big on deserts but I do enjoy to have one occassionaly. Those that I tried seemed to be nothing but sweet, bland with no real flavor. They looked better than they tasted.

The buffet seemed to be open 24 hours. We are not big on the buffets but they was always something there when we walked thru. The only time we ate there was the first and last day when the dining service was not available.

Was the ship clean? Other than the immediate mess or spills that are created by the passengers I would say the ship is as clean as it could be for having close to 3000 passengers. I would say that for the most part it is as clean or cleaner than most people's house on any given day. You will see some carpet stains, and dings and scratches in the hallways. If you expect to have brand new carpet, or freshly painted walls than you should book a cruise on a brand new ship.

The entertainment was not anything that stood out. I don't remember what the shows were so that should tell you something about it. I remember that the cruise directors were husband and wife, they were talented but they were rarely seen in the public areas.

The day time entertainment was typical Carnival, hairy chest contest, new wed, price is right, bingo, scavenger hunt, biggest splash, etc.

If you are looking for all top notch stuff you would probably have to take a trip to New York city, stay in a 6 star hotel, eat in a6 star restuarant, and go to a broadway play. This would cost you more for the one day than the entire cruise.

Book it and enjoy.

My family of five are going on our first cruise March 26th on the Triumph. I had some of the same questions. I'm excited, hope we're not dissapointed.

When are you going? Have you been? My husband and I are sailing on the Triumph on May 15/04 and are looking for some positive feedback.

I think you missed my point. I did not say that the entertainment was bad. I said that none of the entertainment stood out so that should tell about it. After going to many grade school and high school recitals and plays, community productions, 6 cruises, trips to New York and Toronto, many trips to Vegas, plus all of the great entertainment that Detroit has and etc it would take something really special to stand out.

Things constantly change on these ships because all employees are on a contract. We just got off of the Spirit. We seen the cabin steward that we had on the Jubilee. We also had the same cruise director, Michael and his wife Jenny, that we had on the Triumph. Their part of the show was the same. It was still entertainment. Like watching a rerun of the I Love Lucy show when it is the best thing on tv at the time. You will also get different comedians and entertainers than we had.

There are so many things going on at the same time that you will have to make a decision on what to do. Sometimes the shows win and other times it is the casino or maybe a lounge. Maybe you will feel like just relaxing on the balcony looking at the stars and watching the water go by.
