Bed Bugs

With all the talk of bed bugs in the hospitality industry I thought I'd pass along a tip given to me by an International Flight Attendant. You can check for bed bugs by placing a bar of soap, any brand, between the sheet. If they are there, they will cover the bar of soap in minutes. Works every time, even in third world countries!

I would suggest you do this as soon as you can get into the cabin and get the bar of soap from the bathroom and while the ship is still in port and before you unpack your suitcases. That gives the cruise line time to get the cabin clean, a new mattress and bedding!

Well I can't find any evidence on-line that this would work. The only thing I can find is to kill the bedbugs by touching them with a wet bar of soap. I don't understand why the bugs would be attracted to the soap....

why it works, I don't know, but flight attendance use it all the time. I'll go with it if they have found it to work. Since I don't have bed bugs at home, I can not test it here, so......
