Free Cruise or Scam

I just received a postcard saying I have been selected for a free 8 day 7 night free cruise on Carnival. It is in "Celebration of our Grand Opening" in my area. It does not say who they are. It does say it is NOT Carnival but that Carnival is a major supplier. The press is to call within 48 hours to also get free airfare, suggesting by the other logo that it is US Airlines. 3 ports of call, 1 is ANY MAJOR PORT and the other 2 Freeport and St Thomas. It claims an "outside cabin" . Small print is I pay all fees, port charges, taxes and applicable deposits. It was mailed from West Palm Beach.

It really sounds like a scam. Any body know anything more about it?

If you have to pay a fee it is is not FREE

Nothing in life is free I would toss it ;)

I agree with Lyn. If it sounds too good to be true...

Thanks for letting us all know about this.

My friend at work got the very same postcard too. She asked me the same question about a Grand opening in our area (VA)....she did finally toss it. I know Carnival doesn't give much of anything away free. Always sounds good for a few minutes :0D

Most "FREEs" never turn out to be totally free and always have sooooooo many loops that you would end up losing money if you sneezed at the wrong time during the process.
Run away fast !

Pitch it Cruise Dad. Carnival does not open "new locations" in anyone's area.

It's a pitch to join a "travel agent club" where they claim to let you into their travel agency so you can get better prices on travel. They charge a huge fee to enter the club and the savings never materialize. The free cruise isn't. You end up paying more in fees and taxes than you would have if you just booked a cruise yourself. I have seen several discussions of this very same scam postcard.

Read LHT28's post.

It is a scam and I would not call. It is not free and too much of a hassle, even if you do save a few bucks in the end. I got the same post card last month.

See ya,

Brad

scam

some one has been calling me on phone, telling me that I have won a free cruise. I thought it was royal carribbean, but it wasnt they are saying carribean cruise.then he told me to just pay the taxes on the cruises and I get three meals aday, he turn me off when he said three meal a day. I always thought you can eat all day, but their nothing free. LOL.

Todd.. that's an outfit called "Caribbean Cruise Lines". Purposefully called that in order to get confused with Royal Caribbean Cruise lines I am sure. They have a cruise ship but it is very old... By the time you pay the taxes you wouldn't be far from going on a main stream line. Stay away from them as they are mostly a scam. If you were going to pay airfare to get to Florida why wouldn't you just do a "real" cruise?
