I tried searching this but the only threads I found were over a year old.
Can anyone tell me if you need vaccinations for Cozumel and Belize if you're from The United States? I don't really see anything stating it's required. This includes the CDC website and RCCL website. I called the local Traveler's Doctor Office but they didn't seem to know. Thank you in advance for the help.
did get guidebooks and it was suggested for visitors going to hike in jungle,,camp out,,stay for long periods,,etc.....that you should get some,,but to check with your Dr...and government websites..like CDC..which I did...and found out NOT NEEDED for cruise tours and passengers..So relax, enjoy, and don t worry.
I wasn't aware of that Jim so you taught me something today. The Red Cross does say wait 12 months after visiting a country listed by the CDC as a malaria area before donating. They do not test blood for malaria so they rely on people being honest and aware of their travels. Frankly I was surprised the Quintana Roo state of Mexico is on the list - not as a major malaria locale but one where it is possible. Belize? Not surprised.
You can see if an area you are going to visit is listed as a malaria area by going here.
Yes we were surprised also. If I remember correctly they were ok with Cozumel but we went to see the Mayan ruins that trip so that "blacklisted" us that year and then ever time we visited Cozumel after that it on a cruise that included Belize or Roatan. So maybe if it were only Cozumel with no visit to the mainland you would be ok...
