I'd book Costa tomorrow if they were sailing out of Port Everglades. The recent problems could happen to any cruise line at any time, but that will not keep me from cruising. I started to watch the special, but was afraid it would be bashing the cruise line and not placing blame with the captain, so I turned the channel. I guess I should watch it. They've just had some bad luck lately, and I'm sure they'll turn it around quickly.

I don't think the most recent events onboard Costa cruises will have that much of a lasting impact on the cruise industry. Rather than thinking the public has a short memory of such events; I would rather believe the public is smart enough to realize that such incedents rarely occur.

I believe (just as with flying) the most dangerous part of cruising is the transportation to and from the ship; before, during and after the cruise.

Good points. When going on a cruise the ship and the airplanes are the safest parts. People don't think twice about jumping in whatever taxi or bus that pulls up at the airport to take you to the ship, but that ride is easily the most dangerous part of your trip, other than your drive to the airport from home which is probably more dangerous since most of us are not holding a CDL which requires a certain level of training and at least a medical clearance for the driver.

What about that tour bus in Guatemala? Or the jet ski in St. Maarten? People need to understand and manage risk.
