A couple that we have cruised with sent us an email about a 48 night cruise being offered thru this company on the Carnival Splendor to So America for next February. It leaves from LA Ca. and returns to NY. & air is included in the price. I have a two fold question: Has anyone heard of this company, used this company, and is it reputable? Anyone ever done this length of cruise; what are the pros/cons ? I can only imagine being out there for 48 nights !
Our friends have never been on this type of cruise and we have many questions as well.

I've heard of OVC but never used them. What they have done is combine 3 separate Carnival cruises of 17, 13, and 18 days into the 48 day package. There is no single 48 day cruise offered. Of course it would feel like one to you because you'd be doing a back-to back-to back. But you would be seeing two days of debarkation/embarkation for probably most of the passengers on the preceding legs. I would also brush up on my Spanish.

I suggest you look at what you can price out on your own and then add in your air and see how the deals compare. The first leg of 17 days goes from L.A. to Santiago. The 2nd cruise of 13 days goes from Santiago to Buenos Aires, and then the final 18 day cruise goes from there to NYC.

As much as I love cruising, I would go insane being on a cruise for that many days. The pricing for all three combined looks to be around $3500 per person for an inside cabin, so it is not an expensive cruise(s).

I haven't heard of the company, but I guess just do a Google or other Internet search and see what you can come up with on that company.

I can't imagine being at sea for 48 days, although it would be 3 separate itineraries, legs, or whatever you want to call them. Of course, this probably means 3 separate muster drills. Most of us probably even can't take that long of a cruise because of our work schedules, and how many vacation days we get per year is usually far less than that.

Thank you Dave and McPayne for your comments. I did not realize (and not sure if our firends know) that this was three cruises back to back. We both would have the time to do this as we are retired but I agree that this is a bit long and not necessarily the cruise of a life time for us either. We like the balconies so I would have to say that except for the air, the price would be X 3 regular cruises for us. I have not been on more than an 8 day so its a stretch for me as well. Thanks again for input on this company.
