International Maritime Safety Organization Agrees To New Passenger Safety Rules
No doubt this was a meeting punctuated by lots of harumphing by glum looking bureaucrats seated at a big table with bottled water at each seat. You know the visual.
IMO Agrees to CLIA Recommendations |
Until the International Maritime Community sets up a vigorous system of enforcing implementation of the rules and imposes fines and penalties for each and every violation... it is a whitewash, a feint and a cover! So long as the concept of Flags of Convenience remains the convention ,the insurers take no action and the UN provides no tracking, monitoring and methodology...very little changes!!! I always believed there was an excess supply of available life jackets in the first place......I was led to believe so at the Lifeboat muster drills!!
Let's face it...if the power fails....in what mode does the electronic lock on my cabin door fail???Locked or Unlocked??? With inadequate or no interior lighting on a tilting deck inside the bowels of a ship and the cabin door jammed...would you be returning to your cabin???? BillyBuzzy |
Just what I need...more rules and regulations to help me enjoy my cruise vacation.

I guess most of us here are better able to assess the situation and respond appropriately given an emergency, and not panic.
I for one would not even think of heading back to the cabin if I knew no one in my party was there. To me, life jackets in a cabin are a last resort safety device and not the primary. In fact I 'think' Royal Caribbean doesn't even store life vests in the cabins anymore. They are all located at or near muster stations. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I think I read someplace that the cabin door locks can function with a total power failure via battery backup systems. I need to verify that. |
In the event of any disaster.........Murphy's Law always applies!!! Else there would not be a disaster.....!!!!! Time to haul out the Boy Scout Motto!!!
