Love Of The Sea
The following express my love of the sea:
Somewhere within the secret soul of every man
There dwells the memory of a windswept sea
Which manifests into a Siren song.
The echos of the past sing, "Come to me."
Whether we were once upon a Pirate ship
Or searched the churning Northern seas for whale,
The salt breeze found its way into our veins
And made us hunger for the towering sails.
Perhaps we were the Pilgrims on a sailing ship
And feared we'd never see the sight of land,
Or crossed the South Pacific in a tiny boat
That beached upon a shore of golden sand.
The spirit of the sea is always with us.
In love of sailing, we are not alone.
It dwelled with Vikings on the icy waves
And with Colombus's search for lands unknown
When all is calm, we feel the sea within us.
It calls to us mo matter what we do.
So we must venture on the waves again
To sail, to cruise across the boundless blue.
No words can describe it
The lure of the sea.
Its life and its legends
Are calling to me.
The exquisite memories
Of voyages abide,
All manner of vessels
On oceans so wide.
The vast open vistas,
The salty sea breeze,
The wild ocean waves,
All things meant to please.
The winds of the gale
Exerting their grip,
The lash of the tempest
Storm shaking the ship.
The soft golden sunrise
And the silver at night,
The sky full of diamonds
Each sparkling and bright.
The sea is the setting
For love and romance.
The orchestra's playing,
So come to the dance.
