I wanted to know if I am asking too much of my travel agent:

We booked our cruise in November of 08 for November of 09...since then we've had about 3-4 changes such as rooms and family members being added and removed. I just noticed that the prices dropped for a couple of those rooms by at least $100; since the cruise is 6 weeks away, can I ask for a refund at this time? should I feel horrible about asking...which I do?

What I mean by a refund is just for the $100 difference per ticket, not the total cruise.

Thanks again!

Are the new prices listed as NEW BOOKING ONLY?
Most cruise lines will not give you a refund after final payment ..some will however give you an OBC for the $100 difference.
If you received perks from you TA they may disappear.
Be careful what you ask for

Yes, you should ask your TA to check this out. If the rate code your cruise was booked under qualifies, then your TA should be able to adjust the rate or get you an OBC.

The volatile cruise rates are frustrating for TA's. They do spend a lot of time tracking and making changes for so little in return. However; they're there to help you and that's why everyone should use a travel agent.

I really like working with my TA and she's great; but I hate to keep bothering her, but at the same time $$ is $$. Would she appreciate it if I gave her a gift certificate to dinner? I'm just hoping to offset the trouble and what I'm sure is not a great amount of money for her. But it's my fault for feeling guilty.

Thanks again!

Don't feel guilty. I'm sure your TA would love a gift certificate and consider it a lovely gesture.

joarc, I think it's really nice of you to even wonder if you're asking too much of your travel agent. I'm sure her first consideration is to do the best job she can for you. The changes you've made happen all the time, and are part of her job. If your bookings qualify for the lower fare, I'm sure she will be happy to make the change for you.

A gift certificate certainly is very nice thing to do, and I'm sure your agent will be most appreciative.

I don't feel you're asking too much of your TA and I don't think it's necessary for you to give her a gift certificate, although it is very nice.

I sent my agent a dozen roses and a box of candy earlier this year after she got me upgraded to a suite.

Well, that is pretty nice. I want your TA Dave.

I haven't been too too happy with any of the travel agents we've used for the past three years. It's been a different one each time, but all from AAA.
