Does anyone know of another cruiseline that does the "freestyle" type of cruising/dining as Norwegian does? We are planning next year's cruise and would like to possibly check out a different line (though we loved Norwegian). Does anyone know? Thanks

Is that NCL cruise your first and only one? If so you might be surprised at how "freestyle" most other mainstream cruise lines really are these days.

Ironically, with the Norwegian Epic and it's small public rooms, its passengers are more tied to their show reservation schedule and thus less "free" than passengers on other cruise lines.

If it's the open dining that you're interested in then yes, most of the major cruise lines offer an open main dining option along with a fixed time. They all call it something different, ie: freestyle, anytime dining, My time dining, etc.

We have always done the 6:30 dinner but our first Any Time Dining ship we did we absolutely loved it! Look at your itinerary sometimes that will denote which seating option is better for that particular cruise. On the AnyTime Dining Plan we did we were able to call the night before to reserve a specific table at 5:30 or 7:00 I think) So we had a table w/window for 4 people every night at the time we wanted.

Princess has had anytime dining for several years. Celebrity just started "Select" dining. The main difference is that NCL tends to have several smaller restaurants that charge extra whereas the other cruise lines will have only one or two alternative restaurants
