Several cruise lines are canceling excursions to some parts of Nassau. There have been robberies and other incidents involving tourists, including cruise ship passengers.
If you have an excursion in Nassau coming up, be aware that you may be asked if you want to substitute a different excursion, depending on where you were supposed to go.
well, that didn't take long. It had to happen though. I can't imagine the cruise lines wanting the liability exposure of some tourist being shot during a robbery on a ship sponsored tour. Just another example of a few people ruining things for the masses.

I have to say great job to the cruise lines on that call.
I always thought that Nassau was a safe country to travel alone in. It seems things may be changing.
Glad to see that safety comes first.
It's so sad. Just a few ruin in for those that were making their living off of tourists. That's their entire economic basis. Why some people have to act so irresponsibly, I will never understand. If it doesn't change, they'll pull that port. It's happened in other islands.
And if they pull that port the whole country loses not just the "bad" areas. I realize that the cruise ships are not the entirety of their tourist business, but I bet they are a significant part...

Really a shame, I know the Atlantis had to lay off alot of people too. Tough times for everyone, but I would be very hesitant to get off ship there right now. Although thousands are probably visiting safely, what has happened to too many should not be ignored.
