My boyfriend and I are planning on a 7 day cruise either in February or March but are on a budget. I see so many good deals on the internet and such, but I know from talking to other cruisers, you end up spending huge sums of money on other things. I don't want to sound like a lush or anything, but while we're on vacation, we will be splurging on drinks, and definitely checking out some of the excursions. Could everyone give their two cents on an approximate 'after cruise' bill-drinks, excursions, souvenirs, and tips all included. Thanks so much!

Oh man, that is a tough one. The cost of drinks will depend on the volume and type you enjoy. There is everything from the daily special to expensive bottles of wine. Generally most cruise line's cocktails fall into the $5 to $6 range plus a 15% gratutity. Expect to spend more, but you get more is the rule of thumb here.

Shore excursions also depend on what you select to do. You can spend a lot, or very little. It is kind of up to you. What itinerary are you on?

I suggest the best way to handle this is to set a daily budget that fits you needs and then stick to it.

TIPS are $10 pp/day. Figure the average excursion is $70 so if you go on 3 of them you are now up to 1 + 3 = 4 x $70 = $280. Drinks could be 6 x $5 = $30 a day x 7 = $210 so you could easily spend $500. That is just for starters. Then there are pictures, trinkets etc. It can get expensive and does add up.
