There's no hard and fast rule. The last couple years, with travel in a slump, the cruise lines had lots of great prices pretty much throughout the year. Lately there have been some good offers for relatively last-minute bookings (a month or so ahead). However, the cruise lines are trying to get back to encouraging people to book early. As a result, you may find some really good discounts for early bookings already, or very soon. Plus with early booking, you have the advantage of a better choice of cabins.
