We will like to have morning coffee on our balcony most mornings. Should we give a gratuity to the server each morning? Or is the room service part of the cruise package we've already paid for?
Thanks,
Susan

Room service gratuities are presented each time an order is delivered. On RCI they have a $3.95 service fee for room service delivered between midnight and 5am which includes the gratuity, but for other hours there is no service charge. For coffee service I'd tip $2 or $3. We are not big on using room service but those who are usually bring along a wad of dollar bills for tips.

we get 20 dollars in one dollar bills and put in the draw to use for tips for room service. The only time I use room service is for my morning coffee, I love having coffee when I first get up and it is worth a 2 buck tip to get it. I guess you dont have to tip, but if you were in a hotel and ordered coffee to be delivered to your room you would tip them. ok just my thinking I know but it is the right thing to do.

We always have coffee or continental breakfast in our cabin before starting the day and always tip $2-$3. As Dave says, a tip is appropriate every time an order is delivered.

I'm glad to see this discussion . . . I was going to ask what the going gratuity rate was for morning coffee. We've always tipped $2, but was wondering if $3 was more appropriate these days. I have been saving singles for my tipping this cruise ~

For just coffee or tea I think $2 is fine. If you are going to order additional breakfast items, then more is appropriate in my opinion. I always try to keep some singles handy too. I'm not sure about other cruise lines, on Carnival though you can write the amount on the ticket if you don't have any singles. I prefer to give them cash though.

I'm with Dwayne on this: $2 is fine for just coffee; anything more should be $3.

Dwayne, on Princess you can put the tip on the ticket also. But what I do is write $1 on the ticket for appearances, and give the steward a couple of dollars and tell him "it's for him".
They seem to appreciate this.

That sounds like a good idea. I'll have to remember that.
