We went to Panama for a New Years cruise a few years back. It was fine, with nice temperatures in the 80's and sunshine. Of course that could change but still the temps should be quite pleasant even if it rains. Our biggest problem was the trade winds were really blowing and the sea time was mostly in choppy seas. Lots of sick people. I have to admit that I even got queasy a couple times. Our Captain (it was the Carnival Legend) said the trade winds were usually more prominent during that time of year. I guess so. It certainly held true for us.

We did the 14 day Panama Canal full transit on Celebrity Mercury in December of 2008, and the weather was great, with totally smooth seas all the way. We started in Florida and ended in San Diego. I loved that trip, and would really like to do it again.

We did the Panama Canal on the Jewel of the Seas in January 2009. Weather was great. Seems like we might have had one rough day, otherwise the other 9 days were fine.

The Canal is fascinating and I'm so glad we did that cruise. Enjoy!

We did the Panama Canal a few years back in late January / early February and didnít have any issues with the weather. It was a roundtrip to/from Miami and the only rough day was the last day at sea on the way back to Miami.

I would go for it!
