My husband and i are contemplating taking a back to back on the 15 day panama canal cruise Coral Princess in November.
We have cruised this long and we enjoy back to back but I want a deal.
What are the chances of the second leg not being sold out and asking for a discount while on the ship.

I would say that your chances are between very slim to none. Just an educated guess.

The Panama Canal cruises, especially the coast-to-coast cruises, are very popular. Your chances of booking the return while on the first cruise are zip! You could put yourselves on the waitlist for the second cruise when you book the first and hope for a cancellation; but if you really want to do the back-to-back I wouldn't take any chances: book them both at the same time. If prices go down you can obtain a refund or onboard credit.

Most cruise lines will give you a discount if you are booking a B2B.
Ask Princess or your TA to see what they offer
I would not wait till you are onboard

I never heard of a cruise line giving a discount on a back-to-back cruise. My wife and I did one in October and one this February with no discount.

Carnival stopped offering the discount in 2004 to my knowledge. Now, if you are booking a B2B through a Travel Agent they may very well give a discount off their commission. I don't know about Princess or Royal Caribbean.

Opps! I just realized the original question was about booking onboard for the next leg of the cruise. I have to agree with ftroute and f-mattox on those odds. They would not know of no-shows during the cruise, and the wait-listed people would most likely take precedence if even in the slim chance it wasn't sold out.

I agree with the others in that chances are slim on this itinerary. It's just too popular. Plus, I wouldn't risk the air travel issues that would result, as both cruises are one-way. If you'd like to do both, I would strongly suggest booking them together.

I didn't think of the airline issue—that's a very good point. It's $100 per ticket to make a schedule change.
