So how do you deal with someone who insults you in public when on a cruise ? An example....you are a nervous young couple on your first cruise and a coulple of big louts come over whenever they see you slap you hard on the back and say things in a loud voice like " Hey whos yer barber ...god I'd be embarrassed walking around like that and with all those spots!"...or you are abit overweight and bulging out abit and a group whenever they see you make loud rude remarks about your weight, size ,looks.
This sort of thing can ruin your cruise and you'd want to hid in your cabin or be constantly looking over your shoulder.
Or perhaps you do answer someone back and then they and their family/friends start laying into you....not physically but with words.
All this seems highly unlikely but with cruising being more & more popular...you are bound to get some of the more unpleasant sorts who like to be bullies being on the cruise your on and then.....god help you

Well Jack, as for the hair comment, I would just ask the guy how can he walk around with a face like that? As for the weight comment, if you just over-hear it, ignore the stupid people with nothing better to do. If they say it directly, then make a comment like 'well i wouldn't want to be obnoxious like you I'd rather be big'. It seems that on every cruise that we've been on, there is always at least 1 jackass!

Unfortunately there are rude people on every cruise. I either ignore them, or if forced to listen, I just smile and get very polite. The ruder they get, the more I just smile and that can upset people more than anything you say. At one job, I had one ignorant bully tell me do do something rude and I just smiled and said "The same to you, have a nice day." He was speechless and my boss , listening from his office, had to close the door, he was laughing so hard.

Simple... spray him with pepper spray and follow that with a jolt from a taser. Problem solved.

Well seeing how things have been going lately on ships it wouldn't be unusual for him to want to take a "midnight swim" if ya know what I mean! HA HA!!!

There are rude people on land as well as on cruise ships. I would just ignore them, as people generally want to get a reaction from someone to whom they are being rude. If you ignore them, hopefully they'll get bored and go away. I love the expression, "When in doubt, do the right thing." I'd just smile or pretend you didn't hear. Or pretend you don't understand English.

I can't wait to hear Dave's response to this topic. He is a master of sarcastic wit.
