Has anyone ever been married on a cruise ship?

Good question- and does anyone know the cost for the vows only, not a reception or anything like that?

I have friends whose son was married on a Carnival ship in Galveston. Some of their family went on the cruise and some just attended the wedding. The wedding took place before the ship left port. I have no idea what it cost.

Personally, I think it's a terific idea.

I've watched the faces of the brides on our cruises and they've been so relaxed and happy. The entire dining room clapped one night when a bride came to dinner in her wedding dress. She and her husband were complete strangers and our hearts were so happy for them.

To my knowledge all cruise ship weddings are packages which at the very minimum includes a bridal bouquet, photo session and cake for 4 (or similar options). The simplest of wedding packages begins at about $700 and arranged in conjunction with the bridal couple cruising.

There are vow renewal ceremonies that can be arranged, but they are also packages which include a number of amenities for a cost of about $400.
