I just found out I am pregnant and will be about 3 months at the time of the cruise. Anyone else been in a similar situation? If you didn't have problems with motion sickness prior to becoming pregnant, did you while pregnant and if so, what did you take for it? I have had no problems with motion sickness on the ships yet, my only concern is being pregnant it might effect me more.

Congratulations, Mandi!!!

I was about three months along on one of our cruises, way back in 1993. First, even though you won't be showing, bring along a letter from your doctor or midwife indicating your due date, and other information the cruise line typically requests. (You can find these in the FAQ, or let me know which line you're sailing and I'll post a link.)

I did have motion sickness problems while on that particular cruise. I had brought along sea bands -- the ones with the pressure point on the wrist -- and they didn't work too well. Our waiter suggested that I have apples and crackers, and they worked! I still have an apple these days when cruising in rough seas. They're free, easily found on board, and have no side effects.

I also made sure I ate well while on the cruise, but it wasn't a problem. Once I told our waiter I was expecting, he made sure I had a glass of skim milk brought to me as soon as I sat down to dinner.

The only issue I found was that some of my clothing was already starting to feel a little tight. So, it's time to go shopping!

Congratulations again, and please feel free to ask any more questions that come to mind. Although the cruise was 14 years ago, I still have my journals. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

Lisa,

Thank you for all the wonderful information. We will be on RCCL in October so that link would be helpful!! Any other info/advice on pregnant and cruising will be helpful. This is our first so I am learning a lot all the way around.

Oh and I already started buying some warm weather clothes for the cruise. Just getting stuff 1 go 2 sizes bigger since I won't be showing but will need some roomier clothes

Here is the link, Mandi. I'd also suggest bringing the original with you.

I'll try to recall more tips...and where I put the journal...

On a recent Mediterranean cruise, one of our tablemates was 3 mos. pregnant. She had a great time and claimed to feel no discomfort whatsoever. I am a wine fanatic but everyone at our table went alcohol free for dinner on the entire cruise. Since she couldn't drink, we decided it would be nice not to drink in front of her. We still keep in touch and can't wait to travel to New York and see the newborn!!
