My finance & I are planning a cruise for our wedding. We would like to get married on a ship or one of the ports or islands. We want our wedding to be on the 4th of July. We would like to be with an age crowd that is in their 40's to 50's with no teenagres or children. We want to snorkel & sight see but we also enjoy ballroom dancing and love shows. We have never cruised before & would like to depart out of Port Canaveral. We want a 7 day cruise on a very fun ship. any suggestions that an experienced cruiser would have would be so helpful! THANKS!! Rhedd

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

It will be difficult to find a cruise during the first week in July that has no teens or kids. However, based on most of your other criteria (on-board wedding on 7/4, dancing, shows, age mix, a fun ship, and kids programs that keep them occupied), I would suggest Princess.

Caribbean Princess has a 7/1/07 cruise to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and Princess' private island in the Bahamas. The only thing is that this ship leaves from Fort Lauderdale, not Port Canaveral.

We did a vow renewal on Princess a couple of years ago and it was marvelous. I've heard they do a great job with weddings, too, and based on our experience with just a vow renewal, I believe it.

You might also want to look into Celebrity, as I was having trouble with their Web site this evening.

LisaP is right in recommending the Caribbean Princess. it is one of the newest Princess ships sailing the Caribbean. Although there will be some kids, security on that ship does a wonderful job checking ID's to keep them from being where they shouldn't be.

I live in Winchester. What is the best way to book a cruise? How do I avoid having the hidden costs like taxes to be tagged on after the inital ticket price? Thanks for your help! Rhedd

Everyone has to pay port taxes, etc. I have used "Just Cruisin Plus" in Nashville and have been very happy in the past with their services. Using a travel agent won't cost you any more either, plus they may have an inside track on special pricing or upgrades that may come available.
