They seem to be cheaper in the spring than in the fall. We have done the spring transatlantic the past 3 years. Had great weather crossing the first two years but a little bit of rain and wind last year, but not enough to bother us much. The only drawback to the spring crossing is moving the clock ahead an hour every night. The first year it really bothered us, but we got into the habit of going to bed and getting up at the same time every day so we got the same amount of sleep and kept the internal clock in check.
