I have heard of cruise ships that just cruise the calf coast with stopovers in various cities....is this a reality? It sounds like fun for the Christmas season...

Any ideas? Also, if not that..do yo have any ideas for this time of year.?

Travelts are M/F over 51yrs

Because of the Passenger Services Act (Jones Act) all non US registered ships must call on at least one foreign port in their itinerary. For that reason, there are no ships that only work the west coast, however it would be a great itinerary.

Most cruise lines offer sailings up and down the west coast on repositioning cruises to/from Vancouver. Celebrity has been offering sailings from San Franciso that stop in Monterey, Catalina on their way to Cabo San Lucas and this makes a nice itinerary as well.

The four day cruises to Baja out of San Pedro (Los Angeles) also stop at Catalina and San Diego.

Hope that helps.

Tom makes some good suggestions. I would also mention that the Diamond Princess and Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas do Mexican Riviera cruises round trip from Los Angeles (ports include Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta). Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Princess would all be good choices for the age category you specify. However, please be aware that Christmas sailings are at a premium right now, with many ships already sold out. So you might want to act very fast.
