we have an upcoming cruise where I'd like to take a few bottles of wine and my favorite scotch on board.
My understanding is the wine may be fine but distilled spirits are frowned on.
If I were to have a bottle in my carryon or luggage are they going to search and destroy?

Hmm,on what cruise line will you be sailing? It used to be no problem bringing a few bottles of wine on board, but lately some of the cruise lines are even confiscating wine. If they do, you are permitted to retreive it for dinner and then charged a corkage fee. As for the scotch, I would suggest if you really want to bring it onboard, you transfer it into a ginger ale bottle, or the like.

Being a Princess Cruiser, they do allow you to carry on beer & wine. Alcohol no.
You can get it on board as Nancy suggested, or in a listerine bottle, etc.
Good Luck

I used to never have a problem bringing wine aboard until recently. I was just on the Mercury (Celebrity) and had two bottles confiscated from me while boarding in Monterey, California. I suspect everyone is clamping down.
