Can anyone advise re weather mid April in Atlantic travelling east from Caribbean. Several days at sea heading for Madeira. What can we expect?

We did transatlantic last year. Caribean to Madiera - weather was great, sunny and warm. Wore shorts on the ship almost the whole time. Was expecting it to be cool, but actually the Mediterranean portion was cooler. Don't know whether that was normal, but of course you are in the Gulf Stream for most of the way.
