Admittedly, this is a frivolous question, but I'm curious. How many people buy a new set of clothes before going on a cruise?

Maybe I should direct this Q to those (like myself) who are only lucky enough to cruise once a year or so. I don't think I'm a shallow person, but I always feel my best when I look my best... and since I want to have the best time possible, I always buy new clothes before I go on any vacation.

My fiance buys new clothes every couple of YEARS, and I always cringe when I see him toss his tattered t-shirts and such into his suitcase. I wish I could afford to buy him a new set of clothes each time, too! You can see where my priorities are! But this point is, he doesn't care what he looks like when we're on a cruise. (Luckily he's so cute that his clothes don't matter much to me!)

So are there more people like ME or like HIM on this board?? Just curious

I buy some new clothes as needed ..we do out grow them

I usually keep my "cruise clothes" separate from my everyday wear that way I have something to wear for the cruise
DH ...well I try to hide some of his decent looking clothes so they don't become work clothes
Men have a different outlook on clothes than women.

I'm guilty as charged. We all get new clothes before we leave. We don't fill our suitcases with everything new, but it's a nice feeling to go away with new clothes.

I usually get 2 new formal wear outfits. We all usually get new bathing suits. The ones from the previous summers have lost elasticity and usually fade. Usually new sandals/flip flops are bought.

I always bring new clothes on a cruise but end up wearing the same clothes that I have worn for years. Drives my wife nuts.
P.S. Don't forget the bathing suit and have to buy one in Mexico. The material tends to disentegrate upon getting wet. Orient beach O.K. Cruise ship a little embarrasing.

Yup, we always get a few new things. A couple of dress shirts, a tie, sport shirts, pair of shorts, bathing suit, and I MUST have new white tennis shoes and socks. I'm not so cute--I need all the help I can get.

Best regards,

Oh good DR. L,

you forget, I live in Southern California; we don't pay any attention to things like that here. It's always summer!

Like jillianallison, I only get to cruise once a year in the winter months. (I am currently on the buy lottery tickets - cruise a lotta program but it hasn't worked yet)
Living in Canada means summer is a short 4 months. Currently stores are selling off summer clothes and bringing in fall outfits. It is a perfect time to pick up lots of new summer clothes on SALE. I will keep this new stuff to wear for the first time on the Dec cruise.
Finally getting back on a Dam ship, Nieuw Amsterdam Nov'11 (My Mom's 80'th B'day cruise)
