Location of vernadah cabin on ship

Hi-
My husband & I are new cruisers. We'll be on the Zuiderdam in the Eastern Caribbean Dec 2-Dec 9. Our room is #5181 -- and overlooks the stearn of the ship.
How true is the saying that you want to be in the middle of the ship? Will we be smoke out or vibrated to death?

You will be fine. Front Back or Middle, I've never noticed a diffrence.

Don´t be afraid of smoke or vibration. The Zuiderdam has 2 pods. There is nearly no vibration. It is a good choice if you want to see the wake as I do.
Midst of the ship you will not perceive or feel the motion of the ship in heavier sea.

You've picked a very good cruise line (Holland America) - they were my first some years ago and now I have over 150 days of sailing on those "dam" ships (inside joke you'll learn on board). You'll have a great time!

My family and I have sailed the Zuiderdam twice and am booked for the sister ship Oosterdam and Zuiderdam for a third time. HA is a wonderful cruise line and the activities are the type my family very much enjoyes. That said, We have dined the early upper level seating on each cruise. The location is aft deck 4 and I must admit the vibrations from the powerful engines are evident. I believe on 5 you will experience the same. If it would not be too late, I personally would consider moving forward if you can. In addition being in the rear of the ship you will find yourself doing a greater amount of walking toward the front for the Queens lounge, casino and theater. Once again, let me say again, HA, especially the Zuiderdam has been our favorite cruise experience. I hope Julie Barr is on board as she is one of the warmest and most entertaining people we have met at sea. If you have any additional questions regarding the Zuiderdam, send me a message.
