teens on Holland ships

I really think it is the parents shirking their responsibilities as well. Not on HAL, but on CCL once this couple just let their mentally challenged teen roam the ship. He kept walking up to people and bothering them, and even at the lido bar doing the same. Finally on the 5th day, the bartender asked where his parents were. His answer was they are hiding in the room and locked me out.

While I am not a confrontational type person, if I would have seen them after I would have given them an ear full! It was just not annoying to everyone, it was dangerous for the kid.

You always hear.."Kids these days". It should be "Parents these days".

I knew there would be some advocates for the other side of the coin on this one and my sister is one as well. Her kids are grown now but she sailed Cunard and Celebrity with them when they were young and through their teens. She and her hubby wanted to take the kiddos but the cruise was based on where they were most at home. I know a lot of people are the same and there are many who feel the same. Since this board reaches the masses it's simply a good idea to know going in what to expect with the cruiseline choices available. Setting proper expectations and finding the right line to meet those expectations is one of the things this board helps people with. This thread has a good representation of what to expect when cruising HAL with your teens. It may well be the right choice for some families.
