I've heard people say going through the Panama Canal was boring. I've heard people say the White Pass Railroad in Skagway was "just a train trip up the hill and back". Everybody has a different take on what is fun and what is boring.

To me, Copper Canyon looks incredible and would be the whole reason for taking that cruise.

Thank you Gary for the report back from your friends. LONG I can understand. There's no way around it...an 18 hr days will be long and exhausting. Boring? I'm a geologist and my husband has been down the Colorado River multiple times, so I think we'll enjoy the scenery. Six hours of train ride each way will be somewhat redundant but it will be different light and hopefully beautiful weather! It is THE reason for us to take the cruise, so we'll let you know what we think when we get back.

Our philosophy has been, "It's hard to have a bad day on a cruise ship." We'll see about the day we're on the train I'm sure the rest of the cruise will be fabulous. I'm really excited about this as it was such an unexpected opportunity!! Thank you all for your replies.

The guy I am talking about is a nut for Adventure. He has done the Canal, The train in Skagway, a train across Alaska, Canada, Colorado, The train to Grand Canyon, The mule ride up and down the Grand Canyon, Over night cave trips, week long camping in Death Valley, Lots of cruises (9 I think), you name it. As I said I am surprised he did not line it, we will probably still try it...if we ever go.
