I like to listen to the radio a lot. I sometime listen to it before going to sleep at night and wake up in the AM and it is still on! I would like to take a Sony Walkman along and enjoy whatever I could pick up on that radio.
My question is about AM/FM radio reception while on board the HAL ship traveling N to S. Can I expect to have radio reception while on board? Since we could only afford what is called the "inside cabin", would radio reception be any differint w/o a porthole?

I too like to fall asleep to the radio at home (walkman with earphones), but it just dosen't work on a ship; not even in an outside cabin; actually not even on a balcony except when in port. My solution has been to take a few of my favorite CD's.
An MP3 player would even be better.
Never thought of that. Don't they use a technology similar to cell phones? Antennas/antannae and a series of transmitters?
